Be Mine?

14 Feb

Happy Valentines Day everybody! For some of you though, it may not be as happy and you may be saying to yourself “Bah, humbug”, but think of it this way: You don’t have to buy anything for anyone, whooooo! However, I did send, by  mail, one of my very good friends a Valentines Day gifty gift this year. Complete with cookies, a CD, a book and some chocolate. And I had a really fun time doing it! And I’ve got very special plans on this fine day. Ready? Schedule:

10 a.m. Wake up.

10:30 a.m. Go to work.

11. a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Continue to slave away at work.

7: 30 p.m. – Unknown Babysit my neighbor’s children.

So that’s the case! It should be fun. And tonight, I’ll get to wear the Batman pajama pants my parents bought for me as a Valentines Day gift, whoo-hoo! Now I feel like Dillon. I love you all!

The Distant Future

12 Feb

I haven’t been getting the chance to write lately. I don’t know if it’s because when I’m not going to practice for a game or shooting a segment or rehearsing lines, I’m at work, or doing homework, or sleeping. But another factor playing a big role these days is, here it comes, the biggie…

College.

Now, college has always been something that comes up in the endless thought process that is my mind, but lately, it’s much more frequent than usual. In fact, our BRACE advisor in school popped into my English class for a bit to tell us some things we need to know about the SAT and the ACT, requirements for certain schools, service hours, scholarship opportunities; things of that nature. And now, I’m kind of freaking out. Okay, not really FREAKING exactly, but going through that “What do I even want to do with my life?” phase.

Aside from that, I’ve been balancing many an activity on my plate. Perhaps, too much for me to handle, but I’m finding ways. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I have lacrosse practice and sometimes on one of those days I have a game. While my boss has generously worked around my schedule, I basically work mostly Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. And when I’m not running around with sticks and I’m not placing raspberries delicately on a mountainous swirl of frozen yogurt, I’m studying lines for the upcoming musical opening in two weeks! And then there’s CTV, which I can lend a hand to anyone during class, but don’t exactly have the time for any individual projects of my own. Thankfully, I only have English and American History as my only core classes this semester, two subjects I consider more from an elective standpoint. Other than that, I’m dead tired about 85% of the time. And I wish I could spend more time with my friends more than anything, but unfortunately, that’s not much of an option at this point.

To leave off in a good note, here are some photographs by one of my favorite director/photographer, Chris Milk. He made the video a couple of posts down titled “The Last Daydream.” I couldn’t pick just a few to show.

I think photographs of people are my favorite though. Because each person in the world is like an entirely different piece of artwork all their own.

Chuuuuu!

26 Jan

Today was just your average Monday, ya know, like any other Monday. And on this typical Monday morning, I received a cake. It wasn’t my birthday or anything, but this wasn’t any ordinary cake, oh no; it was a cake with Pikachu on it. JP Pelaez made Brody Steel a Bulbosaur cake for her birthday that looked EXACTLY like him. You see, JP calls me Pikachu. I raved about how awesome it was, and he said he would make me a Pikachu cake for my birthday. I said, “I won’t be here on my birthday. It’s in August,” (the 15th to be exact, like Sir Dean D’Agati) “and I’ll be in New York.” So as an early birthday present, I was honored with my very own chocolate on chocolate Pikachu cake. It was heavenly. People know I’m trying to get back on track with my health kick and stuff, but I figured “Hmmm… I have weight training next hour, lacrosse later… A piece won’t hurt.” And so, one piece turned into 4. But I appreciated it more and more with every single delectable bite. Thanks JP! PIKAAA!

Getting Adjusted.

18 Jan

Since lacrosse is new to our school, and everyone in New York I know plays it, I thought it looked like a fun sport to try on! And, well… I never thought I was a very coordinated girl. But I’m liking it a lot so far! AND, we just got in our new gear! My dad said I should get used to wearing them. I said, “Yeah! When I play”. But, he had something else in mind. I have to wear it around the house for most of the day. I must say though, it’s making doing laundry feel much more exciting, and the resemblance to a transformer of some sort is pretty sweet too.

He knows so much.

Yesterday, I woke up at 8:oo a.m. to go shoot a commercial for this yoga place by my house to air on CTV. Yes, on a Saturday morning, but my friend Seth was willing to sacrifice 8 more hours of sleep and come see what it’s like. As I’ve mentioned before, he’s new to CTV (YAY!), so I taught him how to use the camera a little bit while we shot. It went well, and afterwards we headed out for lunch and ate blueberry pancakes and omelettes, talking about our families and how his Grandma wants to spend the day with us, and the fact that I have never had funnel cake. After my mom picked us up, we had to head out again to shoot a skit that Seth came up with originally. Won’t say what it is, but maybe you’ll see it later. I was pretty much with him the whole day! And I’m just fine with that, because he is mi amor. Especially because he showed me some videos on youtube that left me breathless.

This one is more like a short film. So good!

I love My Job.

10 Jan

So for a few months now, I’ve been employed to this frozen yogurt place here, called Lutz. And I must say, I enjoy it a LOT of the time. Although, we can have our slow days where I have to find something to do while waiting for any hungry soul to come wandering in for me to explain that we are “”Fat free, lactose free, PRO-biotic, gourmet frozen yogurt.” Usually, after sweeping or washing the windows or doing the dishes or sanitizing the tables or refilling the toppings or mopping, I find myself taking some blueberries to put on my own little sample cup.

Today was one of those slow days. I love love love the acai flavor, so I kept refilling and refilling and refilling my sample cup. But soon after, one of  my co-workers, Patrick
, and I plugged in his iTouch to listen to in the store instead of the regular playlist we have there. We must’ve listened to the Fame Monster album I don’t know how many times! And when the day was done and no one was in the store, we put on showtunes. Yes, that’s right. Wicked, Legally Blonde the Musical, and songs from a show he told me about called Next to Normal. He’s into film and acting and musicals, just like me! This one guy came in and heard us singing “For Good” and he said to his wife, “Honey, they’re singing Wicked.” I stopped mid-song and wondered what the odds were that the one time we’re singing show tunes out loud, one of the only guys that comes into the store knows it? AND he started to sing with us, and he sounded SO good! I also drew a picture of Patrick on some receipt paper, and when I was done I told him he should make me one. I was fully aware of his warning that he couldn’t draw, but I said “Hey, I’m not so great either.” I was wearing a knit hat. Here is the end result:

I Can’t Stop.

9 Jan

It’s about 43º and the skies are taking on a periwinkle-like hue, giving us a few raindrops here and there. Someone told me it might snow? HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE?

However, it is not snowing right now, and I am sitting at my kitchen table with my iPod on shuffle, waiting to go to CVS to develop some photos for the journal my photography class is making. Coldplay is keeping me company at the moment, though as much as I love them, I can’t get this thing out of my mind. Here’s how It happened:

Monday morning, a few of us were standing by computer 4 in the CTV room. Brody
, who I love and live through for my almost ginger-like qualities, was working on something. Suddenly Pichardo says, “There. That’s it.” Brody presses play. And this was where I fell in love. I teared up. I bought it on iTunes. And I can’t stop thinking about it. One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.

Is this normal? Probably not, no. Worthwhile? Absolutely.

New Beginnings.

8 Jan

So I kind of made a blog in the beginning of the summer, thinking I would be able to stick with it and record all of my greatest adventures, making an entry every day flowing with laughs, thoughts, and a variety of escapades.
As you and I can plainly see… I have not been doing that.
But you see, its 2010 now! So, New Years Resolution: Finding the time to keep up with this blog. And with the inspiration of my good friend Dean D’Agati (who you can check out here at http://deandagati.com/. You also have some pictures here to remind you!), I’d like to reconnect with my love of writing. I write in my journal almost every day. So why not get those thoughts out onto the world wide web?
So today was a friday.

Friday \Fri”day\, n. [AS. friged[ae]g, fr- the sixth day of the week that almost every average human being anticipates because it is the start of the weekend; another episode of CTV airs.

Man, was it a good friday! Seriously, I went up to about four or five people saying “I am having just the best day!”. Maybe it was the excitement that buzzed in the CTV room from finding out we are going to CALIFORNIA (!!!) for the STN competition. Or maybe, it was cradling our beloved child and cookie jar, R2SweetTooth with Maxine.

It very well could have even been the cool, yet sunny, days we’ve been having here in Florida. And cool, yet sunny, = perfection.

But I think the real reason is that Seth Lyon, my best friend, has recently recieved the honor of becoming a CTV cast/crew member! That means, I’ll see him every day in 2nd period! We’re going to California TOGETHER! And I just know he’ll do incredibly well. What talent! He and I got a pass and busted out of our 4th period to go watch the show. We sat with Dean, who, thankfully, took many pictures today so I could cherish them forever! Or… because he loves my camera. Either way, It made me happy.

The First Day of Summer. Or is it the second morning of summer?

6 Jun

You know how people sometimes say “Today…” , referring to something that happened earlier and they haven’t gone to sleep yet, but in reality it’s actually yesterday because it is the morning? Being 2:14 in the morning, I’m guessing that’s what it will be like for me. I’m debating on whether I should say today or yesterday…. So today was the official first day of summer! Goodbye sophomore year, farewell chemistry tests, and so long finishing last minute geometry homework in second period. After finishing up my spanish final, the clock finally fell upon 11:35 a.m., followed by the cheers and screams coming from the hallway. Seth (my other half) stepped out of his french II class right as I stepped out of my spanish II class. Skipping down through the school, his stepmom picked us up and brought us back to their house. It was Seth’s last day here in Florida. Today he left for Ohio to live with his mom for the whole summer. I’m going to be Seth-less for a whole summer? What will I do with myself? So today, I cleaned. Turned up the playlist jams and decluttered. While most of the day was spent in my tie-dye, Key West tee shirt and black soffes, I finally showered around 6:00 to go see UP with my mom and sister. It’s a rarity that we ever do anything together as a whole, so I was pretty excited. It was a hysterical movie! My sister who is 19 could not stop laughing at the little boy scout. The characters were unforgettable, and the plot was one of a kind. Oh Pixar, you’ve done it again.

UP-1

From Disney Pixar, Up is “a comedy adventure about 78 year old balloon salesman Carl Fredericksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure.”
